American Leaders of World War II
General D Eisenhower was an American general during WWII. He was born October 14, 1890 in
Denison, Texas, United States. When Eisenhower was 14 he suffered from what he suffered from
what he believed was a minor scrape but later found that it was a major problem when it became
infected and penicillin wasn't discovered yet. For 2 weeks he slipped in and out of a coma. His
doctor thought that his life was in danger. Dwight Eisenhower graduated from West Point in June
1915 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He served under the army's greatest
generals like John J. Pershing, Douglas MacArthur, and others. After the attack on Pearl Harbor
in December 1941 Eisenhower was promoted to general. He was in charge of the 1942 North
Africa campaign. He oversaw D-Day the invasion of France in June 1944 which contributed
greatly to the ultimate defeat of Nazi Germany. Eisenhower is a U.S. hero after WWII.
