American Homefront
On December 7th, 1941, Pearl Harbor in Hawaii was attacked by Japanese fighter planes. This is when America decided to enter the bloodiest war in history. During World War II, the Americans were at double production speed. Since most men went to fight, the United States government turned to women to work in the factories. They mass produced thousands of planes, mortar shells, ships and other war supplies. Fliers were made trying to persuade Americans to help in the war effort. These fliers included American soldiers being shown as heroes, trying to persuade men to join the U.S military. Other posters also showed the Axis countries (Germany and Japan) as evil monsters. This propaganda on the American homefront helped greatly in insuring the Allied victory.
